Grounding : more about it and what we can do to help
Symptoms of a lack of and self care practices

Grounding is incredibly important today as we are under stress coming from a bit of everywhere.
As we look at the general state of the world around us : illnesses, stress, chronic pain, behavioral issues, a fear-based mindset, actions driven by fear, inaction stemming from fear, and so on. It is essential to become aware of our energy system—which profoundly influences our inner state—even though we often refuse to acknowledge it simply because we cannot see it.
Grounding allows energy to flow through the body. This electromagnetic current moves in a very specific way: from the ground, up through you to the top of your head, and then simultaneously back down from the crown, passing through your body once more to return to the earth.
To be truly grounded, this constant flow must be able to circulate freely in this manner at all times. When grounded, you feel stable, solid, and present, with a clear mind, an easy ability to focus, and the energy needed to take action. For some, this manifests as a sense of being nourished.
How does grounding benefit your health?
It helps prevent or reduce inflammation.
It promotes restorative sleep.
It supports a healthy heart—keeping it both calm and strong.
It reduces stress and pain.
It strengthens the immune system.
It plays a significant role in many other indicators of good health.
Being grounded means being exactly as you were designed to be—both energetically and biologically! But what happens when this energy flow is disrupted and you are no longer grounded? What happens when this energetic pole is neither nourished nor cleansed? Well, as you might have guessed: you simply don’t feel like yourself.
You feel "off-kilter," out of sync, or easily unsettled. For many, a lack of grounding can manifest as:
Dizziness or a sense of disorientation;
Difficulty remembering things or thinking clearly;
Nausea;
Fatigue or a certain lethargy;
Irritability;
A feeling of being "stuck."
If this lack of grounding becomes chronic, these symptoms can solidify into long-term imbalances, potentially leading to health issues or even illness.
Incorporate grounding techniques into your daily routine—especially if you feel your sense of grounding is weak or insufficient.
This is something we learn in my "restructuring and transformative Do In” classes.
Grounding techniques (some of them, there are many) :
Awareness: How? Simply by directing your attention toward your current state, you'll feel your energy system begins to respond.
Feeling unsettled, unstable, or restless? Take a few conscious breaths while visualizing your energy flowing through you, connecting the sky and the earth. (An extra tip : place your hands on your heart, lower abdomen, or thighs.)
Conscious contact with nature: This allows you to tap into the natural electromagnetic flows that constantly surround you. Walking barefoot on the grass is the most direct way to connect with the Earth; electrons can enter through your skin, accelerating your rejuvenation. You can also simply touch the leaves of trees and breathe mindfully. (There are many breathing techniques available—choose the one that works best for you.)
